The Hallmark Movie Channel
Well, I feel like I am doing a good job on thriving through this holiday season despite a few sick dogs, twice I was ill, extra traffic everyday and more on my plate than planned on some days. How I weathered the storms is I cancelled appointments or engagements. I went to bed early. Sometimes at 7:00 p.m. or 8:00 p.m. I was tucked in! I also had a lot of homemade vegetable soup by making a fresh batch one to two times a week. Plus I had plenty of fresh vegetable juices including ginger lemon shots.
Yet one secret weapon for me is the Hallmark Movie Channel. I seriously will get lost in a sappy love story or sweet home town Christmas display of goodwill for the neighbor. It is these movies that I can turn off life, sometimes the ugliness of life and just get lost in niceness. So you will find me and my dogs happily watching Hallmark movies that I record every day of December. My favorite one this season is about a "holiday date" in which a young woman feels the pressure of bringing home someone for Christmas and at last she had someone until he breaks up with her a few days before their departure. She meets a mutual friend's friend and he is an actor ready and willing to play the part of her boyfriend. It was all so silly including calling this boyfriend Mr. Christmas only to find out he is Jewish, but it was so innocent and beautiful how the family embraced Hanukkah and added it to their very over the top Christmas celebration. It was exactly what the "doctor ordered for me" after a rather stressfully busy day. So busy and stressful that I felt body aches. This was my cure.
I do believe we are all overload as a society and part of the problem is we are receiving too much information at once. So, find your niceness in life. Whether it is reading a good book, listening to music, or watching sappy movies. Find something that generates feelings of warm, comfort, happy and kindness. Seriously life and the news is filled with bad news. Social Media is plagued with crazy news too. We need to mindfully and intentionally seek out nice, calm and peaceful experiences to calm our nervousness system down especially during the holiday season.

Breathe, relax and rejuvenate with a Hallmark movie.
